Description

Sinterfiltri's sintered porous plastic filter discs are engineered products that offer unique characteristics, making them ideal for a wide range of industrial applications.

Features of Sintered Porous Plastic Filter Discs:

  • Controlled Porosity: The filter discs are designed to have a controlled porosity, allowing for precise adjustment of the pore size. This is crucial for adapting to the specific filtration needs of different particles or substances.
  • High Mechanical Strength: Sintering gives the filter discs considerable mechanical strength, ensuring durability and structural stability even in harsh industrial environments.
  • Chemical Compatibility: These discs are often made of chemically inert plastics, offering significant resistance to aggressive chemicals. This makes them suitable for use in industrial processes involving corrosive chemicals.
  • High Permeability: Sintered porous plastic filter discs allow high fluid permeability through their pores, ensuring efficient flow during filtration operations.
  • Ease of Processing: These materials can be easily machined and shaped during manufacturing, allowing for greater flexibility in filter component design.

Sintered Porous PTFE Filter Discs: Excellence Defined

Sinterfiltri’s sintered porous plastic filter discs are engineered products offering unique characteristics that make them ideal for a wide range of industrial applications. In particular, the use of PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) elevates performance to a superior level, thanks to the intrinsic properties of this advanced polymer.
Characteristics and Advantages of Sintered Porous PTFE:

Controlled Porosity and Filtration Precision: PTFE discs are designed with a perfectly calibrated open-pore structure. This allows for precise control of pore size, ensuring consistent separation efficiency even for microscopic particles.

Total Chemical Inertness: Unlike other plastics, PTFE is virtually universally resistant. It is unaffected by strong acids, concentrated bases, and organic solvents. This makes it the only safe choice for industrial processes involving highly corrosive chemicals that would degrade other materials.

Hydrophobicity and Moisture Management: Porous PTFE is naturally water-repellent. This characteristic prevents liquid water from penetrating the pores while facilitating the passage of gases and vapors. It offers a decisive advantage in high-humidity applications, preventing filter clogging and protecting downstream sensors.

High Thermal Resistance: Sintered PTFE maintains structural stability and filtration properties across an extremely wide temperature range (from approximately -200°C to +260°C), far exceeding the operational limits of conventional plastics.

High Mechanical Strength and Stability: The sintering process imparts remarkable robustness to the discs, ensuring durability even under high flow rates. The rigid structure prevents the filter from deforming under compressed air pressure, maintaining the pore geometry intact.

Low Coefficient of Friction and Non-Stick Properties: Thanks to the "non-stick" nature of PTFE, filtered particles do not tend to build up on the surface. This facilitates backwashing and cleaning operations, drastically extending the component's service life.

High Permeability: Despite its robustness, the internal structure ensures high fluid permeability, minimizing pressure drops and ensuring energy-efficient flow.

Ease of Machining and Custom Design: Despite the material's complexity, sintered PTFE can be machined with millimeter precision, allowing for the creation of discs with diameters (such as the standard Ø 12 mm) and thicknesses customized to fit any housing requirement.
