History

Sinterfiltri was founded in Turin by the intuition of its founder at the end of the 1960s.
The decision to invest, to add in its mechanical workshop the necessary equipment for the production of sintered parts for the automotive sector, is linked to the objective of meeting the demands, in those years increasingly growing, production of sintered bronze filters.

In the 1980s, it settled in its current headquarters in Turin, at Strada del Cascinotto 248, occupying a total area of 2,200 square meters.
Sintering filters in those years takes an important step forward:
+ organises production and human resources more effectively, selected on the basis of ability and aptitude to develop and manage its work cycle,
+ introduces new machinery and equipment for the creation of moulds and to ensure the continuous production of special filters and sintered exhaust silencers, using spherical bronze powders and stainless steel.
The advent of plastic materials in the use of filter production takes place towards the end of the 1990s, when Sinterfiltri pours its specific knowledge to activate the production of filters in porous plastic material. The components obtained through the sintering of polyethylene, allow to obtain an efficient filtration of both liquid and gaseous fluids.

In our workshop, the production heart of Sinterfiltri, technology and precision come together to create sintered filters and silencers in bronze, stainless steel and porous plastic. The production process is based on sintering, an advanced technology that allows high-performance components to be obtained through the controlled compaction and melting of metal or polymer powders.

The Production Process
1. Powder Preparation - Raw materials are selected and mixed to ensure uniformity and optimum performance.
2. Compacting - Powders are pressed into high-precision moulds to achieve the desired shape.
3. Sintering - The compacted parts are subjected to controlled temperatures in specialised furnaces, in a protected atmosphere, to promote melting of the granules without loss of porosity.
4. Machining and Finishing - If necessary, components are finished by machining, surface treatment or specific impregnation to improve functional properties.
5. Quality control - Each product undergoes rigorous testing for strength, porosity and filter performance.

Machinery and Technology
The Sinterfiltri workshop is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery to guarantee the highest quality:
1. CNC machining centres for making moulds and finishing parts with high precision.
2. Temperature-controlled sintering furnaces with regulated atmosphere to avoid oxidation and guarantee structural uniformity.
3. Hydraulic and mechanical presses for precise compaction of powders.
4. Test benches and quality control to check the mechanical strength and permeability of the products.
